To diversify the business activities, RAFCO enter in surveying solutions to keep up on the booming construction in Qatar and created the Survey & Engineering Equipment Division in 1970. Leica Viva

Leica Viva is a new generation measurement system that combines state-of-the-art technologies into a portfolio of total stations, global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) receivers, system controllers, and on-board software. Innovative features and functional ergonomic design make Leica Viva easier and more intuitive to use, yet it does not compromise on speed and precision.

In the past few years the State of Qatar has experienced extensive infrastructure development.The government then established the Centre for GIS (CGIS) as a department of the Ministry of Municipality & Urban Planning. It is based in the capital Doha and became the official mapping agency of the State of Qatar. Since the end of October 2009, many public and private survey and mapping communities have been benefiting from a nationwide Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) network.LEICA RAFCO has finished the project Reference Station (CORS) network for UPDA- STATE OF QATAR .The CORS network is now constantly in use for GIS and GNSS surveys to keep Qatar’s maps up-to-date. The network is also used for hydrographic surveys, offshore and ocean navigation. Most of the organizations in QATAR are using this system
